Heber Springs Planning & Development is a division of the Heber Springs Fire Department. This division is responsible for preparing and maintaining the general, strategic, community-specific, and redevelopment plans for the City of Heber Springs. All applications for commercial and new developments are submitted to the Planning commission for review and approval prior to the start of any construction or site preparation. This division is also responsible for performing advanced and current planning functions such as:
- Conditional use permitting
- Rezoning
- Site planning
Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment provide technical expertise and research. Planning and Zoning also reviews and approves signs, site plans, and property usage based on Zoning Code requirements. The Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment review and approve variances and rezoning within the city limits of Heber Springs. Functions of the Planning Commission include consideration of proposed use and associated aesthetic qualities of a development project, as well as consistency with zoning regulations, to determine the impact on the community and promote businesses within the city.
