The Heber Springs Police Department serves the citizens of Heber Springs through crime prevention, criminal investigations and apprehension, neighborhood policing, and involvement through the schools.

Our mission is to keep Heber Springs a safe city by reducing crime and maintaining livable and safe neighborhoods.

 

 

 

Civil Service Open Competitive Examination

The Civil Service Commission of the City of Heber Springs, Arkansas will conduct an open competitive examination for the position of Patrolman in the Heber Springs Police Department. A written examination will commence at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026 at the Heber Springs Community Center, located at 201 Bobbie Jean Ln, Heber Springs. There will be a personal interview time set up after the written test at 5:00pm. 

All applicants must submit a notarized written application to the City of Heber Springs Police Department no later than 4:30 PM February 17th, 2026.

An applicant must possess the following qualifications:

  1. Be a citizen of the United States of America.
  2. Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the date of hire.
  3. Be at least twenty and one-half (20 ½) years of age on the date of the written examination to participate in the selection process.
  4. Be fingerprinted and a search made of state and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record.
  5. Be free of any felony convictions or domestic battery convictions.
  6. Be of good character.
  7. Be a high school graduate or have passed the General Education Test (GED), indicating high school graduation level.
  8. Successfully completed a personal interview by the Civil Service Commission or its designated representative.
  9. Possess a valid driver’s license.

  10. A physical ability test will be given prior to the written examination. Date and time will be determined by the Police Chief.
